My name is Andrew, I am primarily a humanistic counsellor but can work in an integrative style to tailor your needs. As a humanistic counsellor I have worked with individuals who have experienced domestic abuse, self-harm, depression and loss and grief. My approach is centred on empathy, understanding and providing a safe space for clients to expore their feelings and heal. I am a calm and considerate individual dedicated to providing a non-judgemental environment.
My Philosophy: I believe that when we are ready we acknowledge acceptance and have the potential for growth and healing. My aim is to support you on your journey to personal recovery.
As a humanistic counsellor, I focus on creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their emotions and experiences. I have experience of working with a wide range of concerns including, neurodivergence, domestic abuse, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and bereavement.
I have worked extensively with young adults experiencing homelessness, helping them navigate the complexities of their situations and find stability. My approach focuses on building trust and empowering them to make positive changes in their lives.
I have supported individuals and their families through the challenges of dementia, offering empathetic and patient-centred care. My goal is to enhance their quality of life and provide a sense of comfort and understanding.
I have provided therapeutic support to children excluded from mainstream education, helping them address behavioural issues and emotional needs. My work aims to reintegrate them into educational settings and promote their overall well-being.
As a counsellor, my primary goal is to support clients on their journey towards personal growth. Here’s how my approach can help:
Non-Judgmental Environment
I provide a space where clients can express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. This openness allows them to explore their complexities and challenges freely, fostering self-awareness and understanding.
Creating a calm and safe environment is essential for effective counselling. In this space, clients can feel secure and comfortable, which is crucial for deep, meaningful exploration of their emotions and experiences.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of my practice. Clients can trust that their personal information and discussions will remain private, allowing them to speak openly and honestly.
My humanistic approach focuses on the individual’s unique needs and experiences. By actively listening and empathising, I help clients uncover their strengths and potential, guiding them towards personal growth and resilience.
Life can be complex, and everyone’s journey is unique. I assist clients in navigating these complexities, helping them understand their emotions, behaviours, and patterns. This understanding is key to making positive changes and achieving personal goals.
Through our sessions, clients gain insight and tools to empower themselves. This empowerment leads to increased self-confidence and the ability to make informed decisions that align with their values and aspirations.
Building a strong, supportive relationship with my clients is fundamental. This relationship provides a foundation of trust and respect, essential for effective counselling and personal growth.
By offering a non-judgmental, calm, and confidential space, I aim to support clients in their journey towards self-discovery and personal development. Together, we can explore their complexities and work towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
